I am a New York State Licensed Clinical Psychologist with over seventeen years of clinical training and experience treating children, adolescents and adults in individual, family and couples’ therapy. I am experienced treating people with the following types of concerns:
My Approach
I bring compassion, a strong skill set and warmth to every person I treat. I strive to create an environment of comfort and safety as these are crucial for psychological growth and healing. One of the most important predictors of successful therapy is the relationship between the client and the therapist. Therefore, I believe that effective therapy is a co-created process where we work together as a team. My style is interactive and, perhaps most importantly, collaborative. Above all else, I work flexibly to meet each individual's needs.
Psychological change can be brought about through several different means. My style combines approaches that work to increase an individual’s self-knowledge and insight (key components of the “psychodynamic” technique) with practical techniques like coping strategies, skills building and goal-setting (key components of “cognitive behavioral therapy” or CBT). In this way clients make tangible positive changes in their lives through both increased self-awareness and focused behavior change.
I also treat clients using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I often treat survivors of trauma, gender expansive folx and people in the ENM, poly and kink communities.
If you are experiencing difficulties, please reach out to me and together we can work toward improving things for you.
